The Confirel teams took part in the FoodEx Cambodia trade fair, held at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center in Phnom Penh over 3 days from 28 to 30 August 2024.

The aim of the show was to promote agricultural and consumer products from Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand.

With more than 3,000 visitors, including many professionals from Cambodia and Asia, Confirel was able to explain the approach that has driven the company for more than 23 years, as well as finding new business opportunities through various targeted prospects. Confirel hopes to see these opportunities confirmed in the near future.

During the period 2024-2029, the Cambodian food and beverage market size is expected to grow at a CAGR of 13.57%, reaching USD 2.51 billion in 2024 and USD 4.74 billion in the following year.

The growth of this market is driven by increasing economic growth, a positive urbanization process, steadily increasing incomes, new consumer preferences, and an increase in the number of foreign visitors. The food service segment, dominated by independent restaurants, is driving this growth.

This market is marked by the growing influence of online food delivery applications. The simplicity of ordering and payment is continuously growing these services. Statistics show that no fewer than 12 companies operating in the field of online food delivery services have emerged in major cities, from the capital Phnom Penh to other cities such as Kampot, Kep, and Siem Reap. These services are benefiting from the increase in the number of internet and smartphone users. The number of internet subscribers has surpassed the country’s total population of 17 million.

The integration of digital technology into everyday life – e-commerce, apps, and digital marketing – has completely changed the way consumers interact with businesses.

Food delivery platforms create an opportunity for food service businesses to expand their reach and serve more customers. At the same time, takeaway or delivery services increase customer convenience and create new revenue streams.

It is worth noting that the demand for sustainable and healthy food choices is increasing in consumer purchasing behavior in Cambodia. Businesses can take advantage of this trend by sourcing local and organic ingredients and adopting healthier production techniques.
